Davids recipe, using shoulder of pork and pork ribs, tastes great, but I love rabbit and braised chicken, so I added rabbit pieces. I found the thighs in the fridge the next day, as I forgot to add them....

Pinot Noir is an exceptionally flavored wine with a high alcohol content and medium to high acidity. It has the aroma of wilted roses with a hint of cola. It really is a difficult wine to make and may cost a bit additional but the flavor is worth the expense. Pinot Noir goes well with rabbit, chicken, ham, steak, boeuf bourguignon, and coq au vin slow cooker allrecipes.
In one coq au vin slow cooker bowl mix the yeast in the water. In another bowl mix the salt and garlic or onion salt into the flour. Pour water into flour and stir with a wooden spoon. This will make a sloppy, stringy wet dough. Cover with a cloth and let sit for 12-24 hours.
Spices have become extremely expensive, but I almost always buy the majority of spices in my grocers health food section. These spices are sold by the pound, and even though they sound expensive, they are incredibly cheap! The last time I purchased bay leaves, I compared prices. A small bottle of bay leaves from the spice section of my store retailed for $3.99. I purchased an entire bag of bay leaves (they are feather light), and paid 25 cents!! I save my old spice bottles and refill them with the spices that I buy in bulk, by the pound. Not only are these spices cheaper, they are usually fresher. My bay leaves look green and fresh, while the bottled bay leaves looked a bit dried out and light green and even brownish in color.
